Alexis Harper attends a masked ball and has an intimate encounter with a stranger that leaves wanting more and to know who this hot guy is. She doesn’t have to wait long when a friend of her male room-mates is introduced to her. Brandon Taylor (holy hotness) doesn’t do relationships just meaningless sex, but after his encounter with Alexis he gets scared because he feels something that he didn’t think he would ever feel again and that scares him.
He blows hot and cold with her but gets very jealous when she talks to other guys, Alexis really likes him and he seems to like her too but he can’t overcome his past and take a chance on love.
I have never loved a female character so much as Alexis, she is the kind of girl that makes you want to be friends with. I find that in some books the female can be needy and annoying and in need of a good slap but not Alexis. I think I love Brandon he a bit rough round the edges but inside he is a sweetheart but is also very troubled and carrying around a lot of guilt. He is dreamy and had me reduced to mush on a few occasions but I would like to get inside his head a little to see what makes him tick.
Alexis’s room mates are also fantastic characters I think they were needed in this book to glue it altogether.
I also found it really hard to put this one down and I would have read it in one sitting if real life would have allowed it. I am also surprised that this is the authors first book because it is so well written its something I would expect from an experienced author. Even after finishing it the characters and the story are still on my mind, this has had quite an effect on me which is a really good thing.
This is also has a cliffhanger of an ending but TBH that hasn’t fazed me at all and I will be reading the next book in the series as soon as I recover from this one.
It is not often that I decide just a little way through a book that it is a 5 star read for sure but this is how I felt about this book and I was not disappointed.
